Program Description

The graduate certificate in Digital Marketing Management is for experienced professionals who have a background in marketing (and various communications backgrounds) and are interested in advancing their expertise--earning an academic credential to validate their knowledge--in the dynamic field of digital marketing.

Participants will be equipped with the critical skills to be proficient in conceptualizing, executing and assessing the impact of effective digital marketing strategies.

Learning Outcomes

Paricipants will be able to:

• Create digital marketing strategies that align with larger marketing objectives.
• Critically analyze the appropriateness of each of the major digital marketing channels (i.e. paid, organic, affiliate, social, email and mobile applications etc.) against marketing strategies.
• Develop, evaluate and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy and plan.
• Measure and evaluate digital marketing efforts.
• Describe the latest digital marketing technologies.
• Articulate the ethical impact of digital marketing efforts.


The 18 academic credits (U.S. system credits, equivalent to 36 ECTS) required for this certificate include the following six courses (3 academic credits each) over three modules:

• MEDC 4110 Media and Digital Culture 
• MRKT 5740 Management of Digital Marketing

Module 2
• MRKT 5895 Marketing Analytics
• MRKT 5750 Management of Social Media

Module 3
• MRKT 5720 Promotional Management
• MRKT 5790 Digital Marketing Strategy

Note: Courses listed above may require additional prerequisites.  Special waivers for the prerequisite courses may be granted by the Head of Department during the application process, for those who have had either prior marketing studies or relevant professional experience in marketing communications.


The program is designed for working professionals, delivered in combinations of regular weekday evenings (2 per week on average over about 6 weeks of each module) and some Saturday seminars (typically 2 per module).  The calendar of class sessions and seminars will be posted here online, in early December 2020, with the first evening sessions beginning in mid-January, 2021.


The Graduate Certificate carries 18 U.S. credits; or the equivalent of 36 ECTS, so it is comparable to a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in the Swiss system.  However, unlike the Swiss system of 'formation continue' (continuing education), these credits may be applicable toward a future Master degree in Marketing.


An application for admission to Graduate Certificate programs is required, since successful graduates of the program will earn an academic credential from Webster University and become university alumni.
